Opening a bKash Account is very easy and it is absolutely free! Currently, bKash Account opening is available in Airtel, Banglalink, Teletalk, Grameenphone and Robi connections.

Download and Installation
  • Supported devices– bKash app will work on your phone if it meets the following criteria:
    1. Android devices – OS 4.4 and above (Not Rooted)
    2. Apple devices – iOS 9.1 and above
  • Downloading bKash app– For Android devices: Download and install the bKash app from Google Play Store.– For Apple devices: Download and install the bKash app from App Store.
  • From what other sources can I get the bKash app?– bKash app is only available on the Google Play Store/ App Store. Installing bKash app from any other source is not advisable.
  • Can I start using bkash as soon as download and install it?– You cannot log in to your bKash app if you do not have an active bKash account.
  • In the same handset can I use bKash app beside other MFS apps?– Yes, you can definitely use the bKash app even if you have other MFS apps downloaded in your smartphone.
  • Can I use the bKash app on a rooted device?– To ensure the utmost security, bKash app usage is disabled on rooted devices.
Data Connectivity
  • Do I need an internet connection for using bKash app?– Yes, the bKash app uses your phone’s internet connection (4G/3G/2G/EDGE or Wi-Fi, as available).
  • Are there any extra data charges for using bKash app?– To avoid any extra data charge, we suggest you download and use the bKash app through a free Wi-Fi network or by buying data packages. You might incur unwanted data charge if you use pay as you go (PAYG).
  • Can I use my bKash app outside Bangladesh?– No, you can use your bKash app only in Bangladesh.
Access Channels
  • bKash App and *247#– You can use bKash in two ways:- bKash app: If you are a smartphone user, the best way for you to use bKash is by downloading and installing the bKash app in your smartphone. However, the bKash app will work on your smartphone if it is an Android device that runs OS 4.4 and above or if it is an iPhone that runs iOS 9.1 and above.- *247# USSD channel: If you use a feature phone or if you use a smartphone that doesn’t support the bKash app, you can use bKash by dialing *247# from your phone.
  • Can I use bKash app using USSD channel if I have bKash app in my phone?– You can access your bKash account using both bKash app and *247# (USSD).
  • Why do I need the bKash app if I can use bKash through USSD?– Using bKash through bKash app is easier and simpler.

  • Which one is more secure – USSD channel or bKash app?– Both the bKash app and the USSD channel are highly secure for all types of bKash transactions.
Account Management

    • Do I need to open a bKash account to use bKash app?– You can download the bKash app but you cannot log in if you do not have an active bKash account.
    • How to open a bKash account?– To open a bKash account, go to any of your nearby bKash Agent or bKash Center or bKash Plus along with- Your mobile phone with Robi, Airtel, Banglalink, Grameenphone or Teletalk connection- Original Copy and Photocopy of your Photo ID (National ID/Passport/Driving License) (For Agent Points: National ID only; For bKash Center/bKash Plus: Any of the three mentioned Photo IDs) Click Here For account opening:

    • If I already have a bKash account, do I need to open another bKash account to use the bKash app?– Absolutely not, your bKash account number is unique. Your existing bKash account number will be your bKash account number for the bKash app as well.
  • bKash account PIN– Your existing bKash account PIN will be your bKash account PIN for the bKash app as well.
  • SIM placement
    • Can I log in to bKash app in my handset if it does not have any SIM card in it?– To log in to bKash app, have an active SIM card placed in your handset.
Security
  • Is bKash app secure?– The bKash app is highly secure for all types of transactions.
  • Can anyone access my bKash account from the bKash app in my handset and do transactions?– No one will be able to log in to your bKash account if s/he doesn’t know your bKash PIN.
  • What happens if I lose my handset which has bKash app installed in it?– No one will be able to log in to your bKash account without your bKash PIN when your phone is stolen. For your financial security, you will be automatically logged out of the app after a specific period of inactivity and if anyone wants to log in afterwards, s/he must log in with your bKash PIN.
Services
  • What are the services that are available in bKash app?– Send Money, Mobile Recharge, Cash Out, Make Payment and an app exclusive feature, Request Money are available in the bKash app. Collect Remittance will be available in the future.
  • Are all the services from USSD available in bKash app?– Except collect remittance, all other services that you use through bKash USSD channel are available in the bKash app.
  • What are the extra services and features that are available in bKash app?– An app exclusive feature, Request Money is available in the bKash app.- Enhanced statements, transaction limit status, notifications, one-tap balance check, payment reminder and several other extra features are available in bKash app.
  • Are there any extra charges for doing transactions using the bKash app?-There’s no extra charge for doing transactions using bKash app.

Post-Installation

  1. Log in for the first time
    • Open your bKash app from the home screen.
    • Allow bKash to make and manage phone calls. So that the bKash app can confirm that you have the active SIM card placed in your handset. bKash needs this information to ensure the financial security aspect.
    • You have to be a registered bKash customer to use the app.
    • Allow bKash to access your location so that bKash can understand and improve your experience with bKash app.
    • Enter your registered bKash account number.
    • If your account status is active, you can log in with your valid PIN.
    • After logging in for the first time, you will be sent a Verification Code via SMS. Enter the Verification Code and proceed.
    • You will have to enter the correct code within a specific time. If it does not work, tap on Resend Code. You will receive another code via SMS. Enter it and proceed.
    • Select your language between Bangla and English. You can change this anytime later on from app settings.
    • Accept the Terms and Conditions of the bKash app to continue.
    • Set your profile picture by taking a photo or choosing one from your phone. Remember, this does not necessarily have to be your Customer KYC photo. You can change this anytime later on from app settings. The app will ask for your permission to access your phone’s camera. Allow access if you want to take a photo for your profile picture. If you want to choose a photo from your phone’s gallery to set a profile picture, you have to allow the app permission to access your gallery.
    • It is better if the subject of the photo is in the center, as it will be auto-cropped in that manner.
    • Choose whether you want your profile picture to be visible to other bKash app users.
    • Set your profile name. Remember, this does not necessarily have to be your Customer KYC name. This name will be on your app only, and will not be visible to other bKash app users during any transaction. You can change this anytime later on from app settings.
    • You can go back and change any of the settings before moving forward.
    • If everything looks fine, confirm to get started.
    • During the first login, you will be shown tool-tips on how to use the bKash app. You can access the tool-tips anytime later on from the app menu.
    • You are now ready to use your bKash app.
  2. Log Out
    • Tap on the bKash menu (bKash bird) on the top-right corner.
    • Tap on Log Out.
    • Select Yes to log out; No to stay in the app.
  3. Auto Log Out (Session Timeout)
    • For your financial security, you will be automatically logged out of the app after 5 minutes of inactivity. This timeout period can be changed anytime by bKash based on customer feedback and other relevant factors.
    • You will have to log in again using your bKash PIN.
  4. Repeat Login
    • After first time onboarding, simply input your bKash PIN to log in for every future occasion.
    • If you replace your SIM card, you will have to enter the Verification Code again during login.
  5. Balance check
    • Tap on the Tap for Balance icon below your profile name on the home screen.
    • Your current balance will appear and will disappear after a few seconds to ensure your data protection
  6. Cash In
    • As per the current system, you will have to go to your nearest Agent point to cash in (add e-money to your bKash account), to be able to enjoy other bKash services.
  7. Send Money Process
    • Tap on Send Money icon from home screen.
    • For the first time, the app will ask for your permission to access your phone contacts. Allow bKash app to access your phone contacts, if you want to easily select any number from your contacts for Send Money.
    • Enter name or select recipient from your contacts or input number. If there are multiple numbers saved against one contact, tap on “See All Numbers”, and then select the desired number. For Send Money, the recipient has to be a registered bKash customer with an active account status.
    • Enter amount on the next screen. Your available balance is shown below for your convenience.
    • Reference is optional. You can enter letters, numbers and space within 25 characters.
    • Enter your bKash PIN.
    • Unlike USSD, the transaction is not complete yet. Check the recipient’s information, total amount (including the service charge), your projected new balance if the transaction goes through, and the reference (if any). If you need to change anything, you can go back and edit. If everything seems fine, Tap and Hold for a few seconds to confirm the transaction.
      • If the transaction is successful, you will receive a confirmation receipt.
      • You can directly call or send an SMS to the recipient from the confirmation receipt.
      • If the transaction fails, you will see the relevant error message.
  8. Mobile Recharge Process
    • Tap on Mobile Recharge icon from home screen.
    • For the first time, the app will ask for your permission to access your phone contacts. Allow bKash app to access your phone contacts, if you want to easily select any number from your contacts for Mobile Recharge.
    • Select your own number under My Account tab, if you want to Mobile Recharge for yourself.
    • If you want to Mobile Recharge for others, enter name or select recipient from your contacts or input number. If there are multiple numbers saved against one contact, tap on “See All Numbers”, and then select the desired number.
    • Select amount from the Mobile Recharge amount shortcuts or manually enter amount on the next screen. Your available balance is shown below for your convenience.
    • Select Prepaid or Postpaid according to your mobile subscription type.
    • Enter your bKash PIN.
    • Unlike USSD, the transaction is not complete yet. Check the recipient’s information, total amount, your projected new balance if the transaction goes through, selected mobile subscription type, and the network operator. If you need to change anything, you can go back and edit. If everything seems fine, Tap and Hold for a few seconds to submit your Mobile Recharge request.
      • If the transaction is successful, you will receive a confirmation receipt.
      • If the transaction fails, you will see the relevant error message.
  9. Cash Out Process
    • Tap on Cash Out icon from home screen.
    • Enter Agent number or select from Recent or Saved Agents or simply scan the QR Code at Agent point to automatically enter the Agent number.
      • To scan the QR Code, tap on the Tap to Scan QR Code button. The app will ask for your permission to access your phone’s camera, if it has not been allowed already. Allow access to be able to scan the QR code. When you see a scan box, hold the phone in front of the Agent point’s QR code. The Agent name and number will be auto-populated and you will be navigated to the Amount screen
    • Enter amount on the next screen. Your available balance is shown below for your convenience.
    • Enter your bKash PIN.
    • Unlike USSD, the transaction is not complete yet. Check the Agent information, total amount (including the service charge), and your projected new balance if the transaction goes through. If you need to change anything, you can go back and edit. If everything seems fine, Tap and Hold for a few seconds to confirm the transaction.
      • If the transaction is successful, you will receive a confirmation receipt.
      • If the transaction fails, you will see the relevant error message.
    • In case of successful transactions, you can rate your transaction experience in the next screen on a 5-star scale.
    • You can also save the Agent number for future transactions along with the Agent’s name
  10. Make Payment Process
    • Tap on Make Payment icon from home screen.
    • Enter Merchant number or select from Recent or Saved Payments or simply scan the QR Code at Merchant point to automatically enter the Merchant number.
      • To scan QR Code, tap on the Tap to Scan QR Code button. The app will ask for your permission to access your phone’s camera, if it has not been allowed already. Allow the access to be able to scan the QR code. When you see a scan box, hold the phone in front of the Merchant point’s QR code. The Merchant name, number and logo (in some cases) will be auto-populated and you will be navigated to the Amount screen
    • Enter amount on the next screen. Your available balance is shown below for your convenience.
    • Enter your bKash PIN.
    • Reference is optional. You can enter letters, numbers and space within 25 characters.
    • Unlike USSD, the transaction is not complete yet. Check the Merchant information, total amount, your projected new balance if the transaction goes through, and the reference (if any). If you need to change anything, you can go back and edit. If everything seems fine, Tap and Hold for a few seconds to confirm the transaction.
      • If the transaction is successful, you will receive a confirmation receipt.
      • If the transaction fails, you will see the relevant error message.
    • In case of successful transactions, you can save the transaction for future payments.
    • You can also set a payment reminder, which will remind you to make the payment after specific time duration. You can set the duration by tapping on duration button under the reminder checkbox. Do this for your regular and recurring payments such as monthly bill payment, monthly insurance premium payment etc. You will get a notification on the day of the payment reminder. Tap on the notification to directly go to the respective payment screen.
  11. Request Money
    • Request Money is a new bKash feature that is only available in the bKash app.
      • Through this, you can request someone to Send Money to you. For this, the request recipient has to be a bKash app user. After you execute the request, the recipient will receive a push notification. When the recipient taps on it, it will directly take him/her to a Send Money screen, where the request sender’s number, and his/her inputted amount are already there. Then, if the request recipient wants to, he/she can executed the transaction simply by inputting the PIN, and performing the Tap and Hold function to confirm the transaction.
    • Please remember Request Money is not a financial transaction. The request sender is only requesting another bKash app user to send a desired amount of money to his/her bKash number. It will only be a financial transaction, when the request recipient decides to perform the Send Money transaction. In that case, money will flow from the request recipient’s account to the request sender’s account and the request recipient will be charged the Send Money fee, just like what happens in a usual Send Money transaction.
    • Request Money Process (Sender)
      • Tap on Request Money icon from home screen.
      • For the first time, the app will ask for your permission to access your phone contacts. Allow this feature, if you want to easily select any number from your contacts for Request Money.
      • Enter name or select recipient from your contacts or input number. If there are multiple numbers saved against one contact, tap on See All Numbers, and then select the desired number. For Request Money, the recipient has to be a bKash app user.
      • Enter amount on the next screen.
      • Reference is optional. You can enter letters, numbers and space within 25 characters.
      • Enter your bKash PIN.
      • Check the request recipient’s information, total amount, and the reference (if any). If you need to change anything, you can go back and edit. If everything seems fine, Tap and Hold for a few seconds to confirm the transaction.
        • If the transaction is successful, you will receive a confirmation receipt.
        • You can directly call or send an SMS to the request recipient from the confirmation receipt.
        • If the transaction fails, you will see the relevant error message.
    • Request Money Process (Receiver)
      • You will receive a push notification if anyone sends you a Request Money request.
      • You can access the notification from the Notification box as long as they are among your last 25 notifications.
      • Tap on the See More button in the notification.
        • You will see a summary screen with the request sender’s details, requested amount, time and date and reference (if any).
        • You can call or send an SMS to the request sender from the summary screen to confirm he/she has indeed sent the request.
      • If you want, you can send the requested amount to the request sender by tapping on the Send Money button at the bottom of the summary screen.
        • Tapping on the Send Money button will directly take you to the amount screen of the Send Money process, with the request sender’s number, and the requested amount already populated on the screen.
        • You can change the amount, or keep it as it is.
        • You can then execute the Send Money transaction in the usual process (Amount>Reference (If any) and PIN>Tap and Hold).
  12. What is the bird icon on the top-right corner of the screen?
    • The bird icon on the top-right corner of the home screen is the bKash Menu.
  13. bKash Menu
    • Tap on the bird icon on the top-right corner to access bKash Menu.
    • In the bKash Menu, you can do the following things.
      • Turn voice assistance on or off (The loudspeaker icon).
      • Change language from Bangla to English and from English to Bangla.
      • See the tool-tips for appropriate screens (The question mark icon).
      • Call the bKash helpline, 16247 (The phone icon).
      • Access Notifications.
      • Access Statements.
      • Access Limits.
      • Access Contacts.
      • Change Settings.
  14. Notifications
    • You can access Notifications in two ways.
      • Tap on the message icon on the top-left corner of the home screen to access Notifications.
      • Tap on Notifications from the bKash Menu to access it.
    • You can see notifications about your bKash activity here.
    • The notification box will contain 25 notifications at a time, with the most recent notifications on top.
    • You can see details of a notification if it has a See More button underneath it, by simply tapping on See More.
  15. Statements
    • Tap on Statements from the bKash menu.
    • You can see your last 30 days’ transaction history, and the transaction summary of the current month and previous month.
  16. Limits
    • Tap on Limits from the bKash menu.
    • There are two tabs
      • Daily Limit
        • You can see the total daily count limit and total daily amount limit for each transaction type.
        • Above the limits, you can see your transaction count and amount so far during the current day for each of the transaction type, so that you clearly know how much more you can transact during the rest of the day.
      • Monthly Limit
        • You can see the total monthly count limit and total monthly amount limit for each transaction type.
        • Above the limits, you can see your transaction count and amount so far during the current month for each of the transaction type, so that you clearly know how much more you can transact during the rest of the month.
  17. Contacts
    • You can access your phone contacts in the bKash app. To do this, you need to allow the app access to your phone contacts once, if you have not already.
    • Deleting Saved Agents and Saved Payments
      • You can delete previously Saved Agents and Payments in the bKash app.
      • Go to bKash Menu and tap on Contacts.
      • Scroll down to find the Saved Agents and Saved Payments section after your contact list ends. You can also enter the name of the Saved Agent or Payment in the search bar to easily bring it up.
      • Tap on the Saved Agent or Payment you want to delete.
      • When the Saved Agent or Payment appears, tap on the bin icon to delete it.
  18. Change PIN
    • Change PIN, PIN Reset and New Customer PIN Setup are coming soon in bKash app.
    • You have to dial *247# to perform these three operations. Call bKash helpline 16247 for further assistance.
  19. Change Settings
    • Go to bKash Menu and tap on Settings.
    • Here, you can do the following things.
      • Change Name
      • Change Picture and Picture Privacy Settings
      • Turn Push Notifications On or Off
  20. Why does bKash app ask me for permissions in various aspects?
      bKash app asks for the following permissions.

    • Phone Contacts: So that you can easily select recipient number from your contact list for Send Money, Mobile Recharge, and Request Money.
    • Camera: So that you can
      • Take a photo for your bKash app profile picture.
      • Scan QR code for easier Cash Out and Make Payment.
    • Gallery: So that you can select a photo from your phone’s gallery to set as your bKash app profile picture.
    • Make and Manage Phone Calls: So that bKash app can confirm that you have the active SIM card placed in your handset. bKash needs this information to ensure the financial security aspect.
    • Location: So that bKash can understand and improve your experience with bKash app.
  21. Device Lockout
    • If you enter incorrect PIN for 2 consecutive times during login, you will be locked out of bKash app for a specific period of time. The USSD channel will stay open for that duration. But please bear in mind that entering incorrect PIN for the 3rd consecutive time even on USSD channel will lock your account.
    • If you enter incorrect PIN for 3 consecutive times during transaction time, you will be locked out. of both bKash app and USSD channel.
    • When you are locked out of bKash app and USSD channel after entering incorrect PIN for 3 consecutive times, please call bKash helpline 16247 or visit any bKash Center or bKash Plus to unlock your PIN and continue using bKash app again.
  22. How do I check my handset OS version?

  23. How to check and enable data connection?
    • Android: Pull down the status bar from the top, and tap on Mobile Data icon to turn it on/off.

  24. What is the size of bKash App? How much data will be charged to install the App?
    • The installation package of the app is currently around 27MB (Google Play Store). But after installation, the total size of the app will depend on the resolution of the device. There are different types of resolutions for different brands i.e. 1080×720, 1280×1920 etc. So, the .apk contains all those images which are required for that device and different images will have different sizes as per screen resolution.
      • For lower resolution phones, the final app size will be slightly lower than higher resolution phones. iPhone app size will be higher considering the iOS platform and construction of the app.
      • When future updates come in, the app size will change from time to time based on the size of the update. (Applicable for all other apps)
    • The data cost to download will vary on the user’s mobile network operator’s tariff rates, and the user’s chosen data package.
  25. If my data connection goes away in the middle of a transaction, then what will be the result?
    • You may have to re-initiate the transaction. Please be assured that if the transaction amount is deducted from your balance, it means the transaction has gone through, even if you cannot see a confirmation receipt due to network failure. You can always check your Transaction History from Statements to confirm the transaction.
  26. If I did not allow permission to access contacts/gallery/camera the first time, what will happen? If I want to allow the permission later, what will be the steps?
    • bKash app will display message prompts for enabling relevant permission, if user has not allowed permission before. User can then follow the in-app instructions to enable the permission.
